Introduction
Introducing the changes and new features available in the minor release of the Machine Sentry® Portal Version 6.8.2 and the Machine Sentry® Android™ application, Version 2.6.
Synchronisation Improvements
The synchronisation between the Android™ tablet and the main Portal database has had number of improvements in this release, all of which are configurable on the options screen on the android device.
“Copy existing images from backup on full sync”
This option will, if selected, speed up a full synchronisation by copying any required images from the existing backed up database into the new database. On a large site with many images, this can reduce a full sync time by 20-50%. This option is enabled by default.
Two more new sync options have also been added.
“Sync highlight after”
This option controls how the synchronisation button is displayed. If more time has passed that this setting the synchronisation button will be displayed with orange text and border to indicate that a sync should be performed.
“Prompt When Sync Overdue”
This option will prompt the user (if they have a network connection) to perform a synchronisation when the attempt to open the site hierarchy or actions list.
Inspection Item Improvements
Flexible Inspection Items
Inspection items have been improved by allowing the “A”larm, “W”arning or “N” normal letter to be replaced on an inspection item. This could be used to change the options to “Y”es or “N” for instance.
If an option is left blank, it will not be displayed and hence cannot be selected by the user.
The options are configured by simply editing an inspection list, which will bring up a list of the inspection items and allow you to simply override the option label.
Inspection List Duplication
You can now easily duplicate an existing inspection list by selecting the inspection list to copy in the inspection list table and clicking “duplicate” on the grey toolbar. You will need to give the new inspection list a name and you can edit any field, add, remove or reorder inspection items as necessary.
Improved Tree Filtering on Portal
The tree options on the portal now allows you to filter based on asset type and or component type. Only one of each can be selected, and at present there is no plans to duplicate this functionality on the Android app.
As usual, this can be combined with any other filter option allowing some quite complex filters to be defined.
To clear an asset or component type filter, simply clear the corresponding text box.
Measurement and Action Undelete Functionality
It is now possible to “undelete” a measurement or action which was deleted in the portal. Note that measurements and actions deleted with a previous version of the portal cannot be recovered, also if any “bulk” deletes are carried out in the database rather than the portal these will not be recoverable either.
To undelete a measurement, go to the point the measurement was taken on and select “undelete” from the “tools” menu. A list of deleted measurements will appear. Click on the “restore” link to restore the deleted measurement.
To undelete an action, you must be on the relevant asset the action was raised on. Again, select “undelete” from the “tools” menu. In this case you will get a list of any deleted Actions or Components that were on this asset. Click restore against the action (or component) you wish to restore.
Note that deleted items are currently saved for a maximum of 1 year from time of deletion. After this time, they will no longer be recoverable. This duration may change in the future.
Bulk Measurement Deletion
It is now possible to delete multiple measurements at once in the system based on a time range. This function can be accessed from the tools menu by clicking on the “Bulk Delete Measurements” menu item.
It is accessible at Asset, Component and Point level and will delete all measurements in the selected time period from the point (or all the points belonging to the asset or component if run at this level).
If you are deleting many measurements, this may take some time to complete. You can enter a date or a date and time in both the “from” and “to” edit boxes.
Images at Point Level
You can now include an image at point level. This can be configured on the portal or on the Android Device when editing a point by using a new tab on the edit form. When using the Android device, the camera can be used to set the image.
When you are at point level in the hierarchy, the point image will be used if set. If not set, the image will fall back to the component image or the asset image if there is no component image.
Action Images
You can now include an image against an action. This can be configured on the portal or on the Android Device when editing an action by using a new tab on the edit form. When using the Android device, the camera can be used to set the image.
If an action image is used it will replace the asset image on the top right of the “Action Note” report.
Action Export
Introduced in version 6.8.1, you can now export the action table. This will export the current view, including the column order, column visibility and sort order. To access the export function, open the “view” menu and select “Export”.
The export will be exported in xlsx format.
Other Minor Improvements/Bug Fixes
- You can now export readings at site level (limited to last 7 days)
- Zone and Area limit to 30 days
- Asset, component and point no limit.
- You can now duplicate users and user types in a similar manner to duplicating inspection lists.
- Asset Extra/Component Extra fields that should have a dropdown now use the search field on Android. Note that the search searches all the values in the downloaded database only. You can still add a new item by entering the text in the search popup.
- News Improvements
- News items can now be deleted
- News items can be flagged as “Tips or Tricks”
- The Android homepage and portal homepage both will only show 1 random “Tip or Trick” at the top of the news list every time the page is refreshed.
- Cursor size in spectra viewer increased.
- Bearings picker allows more items to be displayed
- Analysis mode window now resizes correctly and overflowing text is shown with a scrollbar
- You can now change the language of the portal from the login page. Note that German and Spanish are machine translated at this time.
